Things You should Know

1. There is no magic “Fix it” button. Everything takes time and effort to fix, and not everything is worth fixing or can be fixed. If I say you need to re-do a document that you accidentally deleted 2 months ago, please don’t get mad at me. I’m not ignoring your problem, and it’s not that I don’t like you. The data has been over-written thus impossible to recover.

2. Even if you're extremely careful about how you use your computer and never download questionable material, over time it is inevitable that your system will accumulate unwanted registry entries, errors, clutter and debris. The most common causes are the installation and removal of software, improper shutdown, online games, application crashes and upgrades of software programs. While many errors will go unnoticed, the more errors your computer has, the higher the chances you'll experience trouble.

3. The information you put on the computer is called data. Data is simply 1's and 0's (ones and zeros) saved electronically on a hard disk. A virus, human error or bad sectors on the hard disk can cause a loss of some, or all your data. So if your data is important to you, I suggest you invest in a backup drive.

4. If you know your computer is infected with a virus, do not turn it on. It will do further damage to the computer, if it is connected to a network, the risk of the network becoming infected is high. This is a good time to call a computer technician.

5. Did you know that 80% of computers connected to the Internet are Infected by Spyware. While it is true that most spyware only seeks to monitor your internet activity with a view, to targeting you with pop-ups and advertisements. The real risk is someone taking control of your computer and having their way.

6. I prefer e-mail over telephone calls. it’s all about efficiency. I can peek at my blackberry to view your email within seconds, but I may not be able to take your call right away. I know, I know, your computer is down so you can't send e-mails. Give me a ring then.

7. I'm pretty good at what I do and I love doing my job. My reputation is important to me. I get in, get the job done, then move on. I guarantee my work for 15 days. I look forward to solving your computer issues.
